ACME California Pale Ale by North Coast Brewery - $4.50American Pale Ale - Fort Bragg, California - 12 oz. - 5.00% abvPours a hazy, orangey-copper body with a full, bubbly white head. Pleasant aroma of toasted grains, caramel, and some light citrus. Sweet, smooth caramel malts with a bit of toasted grains. Hops are fairly light and provide a bit of citrus as well as some floral notes.
Anchor Steam - $4.50Steam - San Francisco, California -12 oz. - 4.90% abvThis beer pours a very nice golden yellow with a nice thick and creamy head that rests nicely in the glass. The aromas are subtle and simple. There is a nice earthy malt to the smell with some spicy hoppiness in the background . It is alive and crisp with nice citrus hops. Anchor Steam Liberty Ale - $4.50American Pale Ale - San Francisco, California - 12 oz. - 6.00% abvIt is light amber in color with a large foamy head. It smells of sweet malt and hops. The hoppy, malty aroma carries over to the excellent taste. This beer has a great fruity hop flavor and a very nice bitterness that is balanced with grainy malt flavors. There are also biscuit, caramel and tea flavors mixed in there to make this a complex ale. Ayinger Celebrator Dopplebock - $7.00Dopplebock - Aying, Germany - 11.2 oz. - 6.70% abvPours a very dark brown almost black with a nice frothy tan head. It smells of sweet coffee and some light roasted malts. The taste is excellent, malty, slightly fruity, slightly chocolaty, with a perfect balance of bitterness at the end. Medium bodied with very little carbonation, it goes down creamy smooth. Drinkabilty is excellent. Belzebuth by Grain d'Orge - $9.00 Belgian Strong Pale Ale - Ronchin Lille, France - 8.4 oz. - 13% abvThe rich but remarkably smooth palate features some fairly sugary malt character with some caramel honey sweetness as well. The alcohol spice is there but surprisingly well-hidden and mellow. Slightly syrupy mouth feel. Boddingtons Pub Ale - $5.50English Pale Ale - Manchester, England - 16 oz. - 4.7% abvVery mild with a bit of a honey flavor followed by a small hoppy bitterness in the aftertaste. Definitely easy on the palate overall. The smell is a blend of chocolate and nuts . . . that drinks very well. The hops open up the fruit flavors and stay in your mouth, not leaving a bitter after taste. Chimay Blue Cap - $11.00Belgian Strong Dark Ale - Baileux (Chimay), Belgium -11.2 oz. - 9% abvBegins with a good hit of malt, evolving into light cocoa and dark fruits. Instant flavor of yeast is evident followed by a perfect combination of the spice and fruit pairings. A small hint of bitterness follows then quickly turns sweet on the palate Chimay White Cap - $10.00Tripel - Baileux (Chimay), Belgium -11.2 oz. - 8% abvSmooth spice introduction, continues with a malty middle presentation and a very smooth finish. The alcohol is very, very subdued and will sneak up on you. There is a bitterness but it is very balanced with the overwhelming malt. Coopers begins with a solid head and a full bodied flavor with fruity undertones and finishes with a soft effervescent malty taste. Corsendonk Brown - $8.00Belgian Brown Ale - Brouwerij Corsendonk, Belgium - 12 oz. - 7.5% abv Intense and sweet, yet complex and inviting. Malt, alcohol, dark fruits, a hint of spice and pepper, some citrus, almond, yeast. Very good nose. Every sip is a new flavor - you can delve into the depths of this beer for a long time and still come up with new flavors Delirium Nocturnum - $9.00Belgian Strong Dark Ale - Brouwerij Huyghe, Belgium -11.2 oz. - 8.5% abvSweet and spicy, with a very, very nice nut brown flavor. Hazelnutty and peanutty and roasty notes blossom after a sweet, yummy brown sugar beginning. Candied apples, orange zest, raisins, grape juice, and sherry come to mind. The sugary malts are offset by a profound spiciness from the alcohol and sharp hops. Finish is clean, warming, and tangy with a suggestion of cocoa and a lingering smack of hops and yeast. Delirium Tremens - $9.00Belgian Strong Pale Ale - Brouwerij Huyghe, Belgium -11.2 oz. - 8.5% abvPours a light gold color, but with a dense, persistent head and fabulous lacing. Aromas of lemon zest, ginger ale and lime. There is considerable tartness, but with a beam of sweetness running throughout. Taste of melon and banana, with a touch of honey as the beer warms in the glass. This beer has a very pleasing, smooth mouth feel throughout. Dogfish Head Indian Brown Ale - $4.50American Brown Ale - Milton, Delaware - 12 oz. - 7.2% abvToasted grains, loads of bitter black coffee, some dark bitter chocolate towards the sweet finish. Burnt, charred wood and burning leaves again. The alcohol becomes noticeable as it approaches room temp, but it never detracts form the flavor, but rather adds to it. Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA - $6.50American Double Indian Pale Ale - Milton, Delaware - 12 oz. - 9% abvCrisp, refreshing and very drinkable for double IPA at 9%. The smell is nice and hoppy and the taste is crisp and clean especially for a double IPA. The mouth feel is intense and it hits all of your tastebuds. Duvel Belgian - $8.00Belgian Strong Pale Ale - Breendonk-Puurs, Belgium -11.2 oz. - 8.5% abvThis beer pours silky and forms a nice thick head. There are hInts of apple and citrus to the nose. Taste is extra smooth with no bite. Very nice finish. Erdinger Hefe-Weizen - $4.50Hefe-Weizen - Kelheim, Germany - 11.2 oz. - 5.3% abvA light, crisp malted wheat, lightly buttery effect hits first with an herbal grainy yeast and hop flavor that becomes smooth and slicker feeling going down. This light bodied brew has big visual carbonation that mellows over time. Flying Dog Classic Pale Ale - $4.00American Pale Ale - Denver, Colorado -11.2 oz. - 5.32% abvA nice copper color with medium head that breaks into a decent lacing. A malty aroma with a hint of a fruity background. Mild hops with a little tanginess at the front of the tongue. A bit of caramel. A very mild IPA with the refreshing quality of a good wheat beer. Fullers 1845 - $9.00English Strong Ale - Chiswick, London, England -16.9 oz. - 6.3% abvThere are strong flavors of raisins and figs which lend a mild sweetness and chewy mouthfeel to the beer. It drinks smooth leaving a coat of rich roasted flavors on the tongue mid drink. Overall the beer drinks smooth with full roasted flavors, delicious. Fullers ESB - $5.50Extra Special Strong Bitter - Chiswick, London, England - 11.2 oz. - 5.9% abvSmells of sweet malts with a touch of caramel and a bit of apple cider. Smooth malt body that covers the palate. Bit of caramel and touch of toffee. Fullers London Pride - $5.50English Pale Ale - Chiswick, London, England -11.2 oz. - 4.7% abvPride pours out a slightly dark golden color with a nice medium head, medium retention. The smell is mainly malty and slightly hoppy . It tastes of nice malts with a subtle dash of sweetness. Great Divide Yeti Imperial Stout - $7.00Russian Imperial Stout - Denver, Colorado - 12 oz. - 9.5% abvThe chocolate taste combines with strong roasted qualities and a little bit of sweetness around the tip of the tongue. Caramel splash almost like whipped cream laced with butterscotch can be found as well. Finishes alcoholic with chocolate liqueur features. Harviestoun Old Engine Oil - $7.50Old Ale - Alva, Clackmannanshire, Scotland - 11.2 oz. - 6% abvBlack with tan creamy head. Aroma of chocolate and over ripe fruit. Silky mouth feel. Pretty mellow taste of chocolate, plum, vanilla, and a slight smokiness toward the end with an alcoholic warmth in the finish. Highland Gaelic - $4.50American Amber/Red Ale - Asheville, North Carolina - 12 oz. - 5.8% abvCaramel, plums, and red grapes with a decent bitterness level make up a simple flavor profile that is enjoyable and well balanced. Hobgoblin - $5.00Witney, Oxon, England - 12 oz. - 5.2% abvAroma is elusive, but suggests caramel, chocolate, toffee, and fruity esters. Mouth feel is juicy and a bit fizzy. Flavor is malty, nutty and yeasty with a strong undertone of banana. Plum and grape throughout. Spices fade away gracefully and cleanly. Dry, clean, and refreshing. Lagunitas Censored (aka The Kronic) - $4.50American Amber/Red Ale - Petaluma, California - 12 oz. - 5.9% abvFirm, medium bodied feel, creamy with a slight snap and crunch of citrusy hop and carbonation. Taste is solid; up front sweet caramel malt. Salty hops show up at the back, giving it an almost ESB flavor. Lindemans Framboise Lambic - $12.00Lambic - Vlezenbeek, Belgium - 12 oz. - 4% abvSweet raspberries dominate the aroma. Flavor is predominantly raspberries, with a nice bit of sourness. Has a bit of pucker power to it. Slight fruit acidity that helps maintain a moderate sweetness; not overly sweet, but far from bitter. Lindemans Kriek Lambic - $12.00Lambic - Fruit - Vlezenbeek, Blegium - 12 oz. - 4% abvA very pleasant dessert beer, that is satisfying without being excessively sweet thanks to its tartness and acidity. The flavor starts with the earthy wheat-like tartness, followed by the sweet/sour character of cherries. The sweetness and sourness seem to be very well in balance. Lindemans Peche Lambic - $12.00Lambic - Vlezenbeek, Blegium - 12 oz. - 4% abvNose is a sweet, almost overpowering odor of fresh peach without much malt or anything else "beerlike" to be detected. The taste starts very sweet with a lot of peach, but fades nicely into a slight bitterness befitting the lambic style with a smooth, malty finish. Lion Heart Stout - $4.50Sweet Stout - Kingston, Jamaica - 12 oz. - 7.6% abvSweet, Chocolate, Coffee, Roasted Malt, and perhaps a tiny bit of stewed or candied fruit hiding in the back. These same qualities are present in the taste, as well. Very little hops; enormous malt. Maredsous Dobble - $8.00Dubbel - Breendonk-Puurs, Belgium -11.2 oz. - 8% abvVery full flavored and lively. Lots of fruity flavors; figs, apricots, banana, and a nice mellow spiceness. Very rich, creamy and thick, great carbonation. Ommegang Three Philosphers - $8.00Belgian Style Blend - Quadrupel - Cooperstown, New York - 12 oz. - 9.8% abvThis beer is a dark ruby with a big creamy, off-white head. Aroma is rich with cherries, dark caramel and a little chocolate hint. Taste is dark-chocolate covered cherries with a nice and noticeable alcohol to it. Pacifico - $4.00American Macro Lager - Mexico City, Mexico - 12 oz. - 4.8% abvThe perfect summer beer; slightly sweet, crisp, refreshing, full-bodied and no after taste. Paulaner Hefe Weizen - $6.00Hefe Weizen - Munchen, Germany - 16.9 oz. - 5.5% abvThis beer has a nice natural earthy aroma. This is a nice mild brew. It pours in a cloudy dark yellow color. The taste is a nice think grain flavor. It has a sharp crisp mouthfeel. Definitey a wheat taste and finish. Red Hook ESB - $4.50Extra Special Bitters - Woodinville, Washington - 12 oz. - 5.7% abvThis rich copper-colored ale is styled by a complex balance between the bitterness of the hops and the sweetness of a heavier caramel malting. A late addition of hops highlights the fresh aroma. Red Hook Long Hammer IPA - $4.50India Pale Ale - Woodinville, Washington - 12 oz. - 6.5% abvAgressively hopped, dry and crisp finish. Long Hammer pairs nicely with spicy dishes and grilled meats. Red Seal Ale by Northcoast Brewery - $4.50American Pale Ale - Fort Bragg, California - 12 oz. - 5.6% abvThe aroma is full of hops, floral and citrusy, oranges, grapefruit, even some peaches, and some underlying musty notes. Creamy sweet malt body, almost candy like. The taste is quite citrusy too, oranges and grapefruits again and a bit lemony, but there are a lot of perfumy floral notes as well, with a piney resinous bitter edge. Reissdorf Kolsch - $6.50Kolsch - Koln, Germany - 11.2 oz. - 4.8% abvThe aroma is malty, yet subtle. Biscuity malts are apparent along with a touch of grain. The taste is similar to the aroma. Bready, German malts are noticeable up front with sweet, ripe fruits following mid-palate. The finish is crisp, moderately hoppy and a touch dry. Rogue Dead Guy Ale - $5.50Maibock - Newport, Oregon - 12 oz. - 6.5% abvPours an red-amber to the light with a thick, tan one-finger head. Good amount of hops but very balanced with a decent taste of caramel. Very smooth and malty. A bit of hops near the end, but once again, it's very balanced. Quite stimulating and crisp. Samuel Smith Nut Brown Ale - $6.50English Brown Ale - Tadcaster, North Yorkshire, England - 12 oz. - 5% abvThe aroma is quite sweet and yes, nutty. There's hardly any hop in the nose, but the malt character is interesting enough to make up for this. Nice and fruity smelling, with that nuttiness creeping in. The flavor also leans well to the sweet side, but with more bitterness than one might expect. Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stout - $6.50Oatmeal Stout - Tadcaster, North Yorkshire, England - 12 oz. - 5% abvThe smell is of roasted malt, a little oatmeal, and faint hops. The taste is surprising - thick, sweeter than your average stout, not much hops at all in the flavor. The mouthfeel is thick, without being chewy. There's a solid amount of carbonation, but nothing overpowering. Drinkability is high, because it's so smooth and balanced. Schneider & Sons Aventinus - $9.00Weizen-Eisbock - Germany - 16.9 oz. - 12% abvSyrupy sweet malt up front. A bit of banana flavor is detectable, but barely under the surge of the sharpness the alcohol provides. Finish is remarkably tame, after the spike in taste, and leaves a bit of spice and malt behind. Plenty of carbonation made for a creamy, bubbly beer that maintained a viscous density, sticking around on the palate. Schneider & Sons Edel Weiss (Organic) - $8.00Edel-Weisse - Kelheim, Germany - 16.9 oz. - 6.2% abvAppearance has a haziness of a light golden brown with a crisp head. Aroma is of clove, fruit and light banana and spice. Taste is pretty much the same as aroma with more emphasis in the spice with a good crisp carbonation having a light to medium mouth feel. Spaten Optimator - $4.50Dopplebock - Munchen, Germany - 12 oz. -7.2% abvThe smell is hoppy and pleasant with undertones of "burned" maltiness. The taste was very smooth, and the beer goes down easy with no bad aftertaste. There are nice malt notes, and again the term "chocolatey" comes to mind. St. Bernardus Abt. 12 - $9.00Quadrupel - Watou, Belgium -11.2 oz. -10.5% abvDark Ruby appearance with a thick, brownish head that lasts until the last drop. Very aromatic with spice and fruit jumping all over your "nosebuds". Feels smooth and slick on the tongue and pallet despite its high alcohol content, which makes for a very drinkable libation. Tastes of apricot, peach, and cloves throughout and finishes with a hint of vanilla. St. Bernardus Tripel - $9.00Tripel - Watou, Belgium - 11.2 oz. - 8% abvSugar cookies spicy hops and peppery yeast, apricots and raisins, vanilla earth caramel... touches of lemon grass and just a hint of boozy goodness - just wonderful! St. Peters Old-Style Porter - $8.00English Porter - Bungay, Suffolk, England -16.9 oz. - 5.1% abvAroma is roasted malt with some nice caramel and nutty tones. Light hint of coffee and herbal hops. Nice roasty flavor upfront leading into some caramel and nutty flavors with a more coffee flavor than detected in the smell. Unibroue-Blanche De Chambly - $6.00Witbier - Chambly, Quebec, Canada - 12 oz. - 5% abvMild white head with some lacing. Very hazy yellow color. Smell is a mixture of cloves, a bit of spicy yeast, and a mild bananna and apples. Taste is mildly sour and yeasty. Unibroue-La Findu Monde - $6.50Belgian Strong Pale Ale - Chambly, Quebec, Canada - 12 oz. - 9% abvVery much carbonated as a constant flow of tiny bubbles speed to the top of the beer from the side and bottom of the pint glass. Sweet plum taste but not overwhelming. This is a tasty beer with a malty start and solid finish. The 9% alcohol content is not easily noticed because the flavor is established so well. Even with the obviously strong carbonation , this brew is very smooth to the mouth. Unibroue-Maudite - $6.50Belgian Strong Dark Ale - Chambly, Quebec, Canada - 12 oz. - 8% abvTropical fruit aromas mixed with a little red pepper and alcohol. A tangy mild hoppiness stings at the nose and translates into a wine-like dry aroma. Spiced fruit esters (fruit with sweet, peppery balance) overpowers the alcohol. Finishes with a wine-like dryness that bites at the back of the mouth thanks to the tart esters. Certainly a wine drinker's beer if there is such a thing. Wonderfully complex. Typical of the Belgium ales, very sparkling yet full of texture from the bubbles plus beer consistency due to good ingredients. Urthel Samaranth - $10.00Quadrupel - Ruiselede, Belgium -11.2 oz. -12% abvStrong yeast spice with some sweet raisin scents and a hint of alcohol. Cloves and brown sugar are evident. Sweetly spicy from the beginning, with many expected Belgian yeast notes along the way. A touch of dark fruit, such as raisin. A shocking bit of alcoholic bite at the finish, followed by some dryness and residual spice. Victory Golden Monkey - $5.50Tripel - Downington, Pennsylvania - 12 oz. - 9.5% abvAnother solid brew from the boys in Downingtown. On first pour this brew is gold with almost no head. Aroma is fruity, but mostly citrus and a little dry, some biscuity malts in the background. Taste has a little bite, but not too distracting. Goes down smooth. Victory Prima Pils - $4.50German Pilsner - Downington, Pennsylvania - 12 oz. - 5.3% abvThis beer has a light golden straw-like color with a decent head that is well retained and settles into 'chunky', foamy pieces. The aroma is malty and grainy with traces of noble hops. The flavor is malty ith noble hops present. It has a nice balanced flavor with a hoppy finish. It has a medium-light body with moderate carbonation to it. Weihenstephaner Hefe Weisse - $4.50Hefe Weisse - Freising, Germany - 12 oz. - 5.4% abvWondrous scents of banana and clove with light pepper and gentle scent of wheat. Effervescent lively mouth feel. Light and easy wheat creamy feel. Nutty and slight spice in the semi-dry finish. Great flavors of wheat and yeast up-front. Citrus and pepper flavors are swirled in with the yeast taste. A nice mildly sweet and creamy wheat flavor gets all wrapped up with Bavarian yeast flavor. Nice tropical fruit and citrus accents until the light pepper floats over the tongue in the finish. Widmer Hefeweizen - $4.00American Pale Wheat Ale - Portland, Oregon - 12 oz. - 4.7% abvHazy apricot color with a white foamy head that settles down quickly, leaving no lace. Aroma of biscuity pale malt, some butterscotch amd ripe pear. Flavor is initially malty, somewhat bready, with very understated notes of lemon citrus and phenols, and even some buttered corn poking through. A faint yeasty flavor emerges, but doesn't assault the palate. Wild Hop Organic Amber Lager - $4.00Vienna Lager - Fairfield, California - 12 oz. - abvNice medium hoppiness, definitely "there" but not too strong, with a clean finish, reminiscent of berries. Maybe a little too "fizzy", but not bad. All in all, a clean, crisp brew and it's organic. Wittekerke - $4.50Witbier - Harelbeke-Bavikhove, Belgium - 11.2 oz. - 5% abvThe smell has a lemon nose and whiffs of wheat. The taste on first sip offers plenty of lemon and then there's a yeasty kick and some banana and some spice. The taste is light and delicate – it has slight malt and hop flavors topped off with some floral notes. The mouth feel is light and feels suited for this beer. Overall, this is a smooth and easy drinking beer. Woodpecker Cider - $4.00Cider - Hereford, England - 12 oz. - abvVery pale yellow color with ample carbonation. Starts out with a quick bite from the carbonation, then mellows into a nice musky flavor, followed by a green-apple sweetness. Pleasantly sweet after taste, and no real flavor of alcohol. A great way to cool off on a hot afternoon.
